Collage & Assemblage Workshop

SATURDAY JUNE 279AM TO NOON

Instructor – Barbara Baker McIntyre

This three-hour workshop will begin with a demonstration in using foundobjects, collage & mixed media. We will look at other artists who haveinspired and utilized collage & assemblage over the years. Then we will“play” with objects and papers to explore how artists connect foundobjects and arrive at some of the decisions that they ultimately make. This is a highly creative art form which stimulates that “thinking outside thebox” part of your brain.Basic materials and tools will be provided. Participants are encouraged togather some interesting items and found objects for consideration as partof their art project. Call today to reserve your space as class size is limited.

I have posted that there will be two 2-day workshops offered for four participants each . April 2&3(Thurs/Fri) and April 7&8( Tue/Wed

In the workshops artists & novices will receive a package of objects & materials. We will explore different ways to connect and assemble these items.

The emphasis is on creative play and learning how best to connect different materials. I.E. glass to metal, wood to rubber and many others. In 2 days we can experiment with glues & adhesives, learn how to handle and work with difficult products.

Assemblage Workshop

Cynthia, Terry & Blair came to my studio and experimented with found object assemblage.

Here they are gluing, drilling and assembling a variety of items.
Blair is puzzling over all these objects and what she wants to do to connect them to the foundation board.

Here's Terry and her mixed media Encaustic sample. She used hot beeswax & damar, collage and even screws & wire.
Each participant was given a box of selected items from my collection for experimentation and fun. there were also a variety of odds & ends for further testing. A very large variety of water based glues, epoxies, adhesives and other products were available and were discussed as well as tested.

Drill it, Screw it, Glue it !
We did all of the above!!!
Here are some of the projects. These are sampler pieces using different glues, adhesives and connecting techniques.
