Hi!

I'd like to invite you to check out a great website that I know about called Etsy (http://www.etsy.com). Etsy is an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade. You'll find a creative community of independent artists and designers and the very best in handmade goods, craft supplies and vintage. It's an excellent place to find one of a kind items, to give as gifts - or as gifts for yourself! Since you're buying directly from artists on Etsy, you have the special opportunity to form personal connections with the people who create your treasures.

Signing up is free and easy!

Enjoy!

My website is going through a makeover - it will problably be another week to 10 days before it is fininshed. My Tech guy just let me know that my email has been off for a while so I thought I better give you the new one now. Even thought my website is not redone yet, I am getting emails through the new domain. http://www.bbmcintyre.com/ and my email is barbara@bbmcintyre.com .
So please replace the old one with this.

Assemblage Art Workshop

I'm going to have to Clean Up!
Well I have been asked many many times whether I would consider teaching and I have considered it for a couple of years now. I just hope I haven't considered it too long.

I have come up with a 3 day work shop called "Drill It, Screw It and Glue It!"
January 20,21,22, 2009

The first question inevitably I am asked is what kind of glue do I use # 2 is where do I find my stuff. I will be supplying items out of my collection for students use. I am limiting the class to 6 participants because I want to teackh in my studio where I have a lot of built in ventilation. We are going to experiment with various glues and adhesiveis not normally handled because of fume/vapor problems. I am also going to have battery powered had drills and dremmels and show people how I use them , hold small objects for drilling lots of cool stuff.

So far I have about 3 very talented artists planning on coming

You can go to my website and get the full course description.

New Sculptures with Hands

Purple Painting Party

This is a closer view of the commission I recently completed for a private home here in the Santa Barbara Area. The overall piece measured to the edges of outstretched hands approx 5.5' high x 3.5' wide.

I worked with the couple to first measure the area where they wanted to hang the piece and determine the size it should be and then get their wishes for color and what kind of overall impact the wanted.

This is the piece that started everything . This is the first wall-hanging hand sculpture. The hands are all vintage ladies gloves filled with expanding urethane foam and sealed with shellac, clear sealer, gesso, the painted with acrylics and varnished with golden uv protective varnish.

These pieces are joyous, positive, provocative and definitely not landscapes.
